In sending an invitation to a customer for them to become a member of the portal, can that invitation be sent automatically as a result of a particular event happening in MS CRM (i.e. convert lead to opportunity, or create an account record)?  A workflow rule or something else?

Also, periodically (i.e. every 6 months) can an email, which contains the URL for the website's login screen, be sent to a customer asking them to update their account's profile?

I am considering purchasing Portal compared to our own development.  This will help me evaluate whether Portal will help us accomplish what we are wanting to do.
