This file is located in the webconnect virtual directory or %programfiles%\c360 Solutions\V3\Win\WebConnect\Samples. The log files details the actions performed, whether a lead was created, whether an activity was created, content of the form being posted, etc.

For example here is an excerpt from my Log file when a duplicate exists:

Contact found: <resultset morerecords='0'></resultset>
Lead already exists.
Lead Id ::{703D0929-4E35-DC11-91EB-0003FFFDFFFF}
For New Activity OwnerId: {56EEDA2E-D27F-DA11-B5D0-0003FF0BBE00}

This means that contact records were checked but 0 exists with the email address the customer entered. Conversely, lead records were checked and a duplicate was found. I have my Web Connect configuration setup to create an activity when a record exists, hence the supplemental information for New Activity.

-Henry

RE: Disable Duplicate Checking

Thanks Again for the prompt response.

As far as the administrator knowing about webconnect's activity, i was actually referring to unsuccessful attempts by webconnect due to there being a duplicate.

ie how do i know when webconnect attempted to add a lead & was unsuccessful

RE: Disable Duplicate Checking

Hi. We will research your questions this week.

RE: Disable Duplicate Checking
Can I ask if WebConnect's behavior would be the same if a lead was closed by either being disqualified or converted to an opportunity.
That's a good question and I have to be honest: I am not sure what the answer is! I know that WebConnect will check if a contact with the given email exist before checking for an existing Lead. Therefore if the Lead has been converted to a Contact, WebConnect will add the activity to the Contact it found. However, what happens if the Lead was disqualified (and therefore deactivated)? Or what if it has been converted to an Account and/or Opportunity without a Contact? Will WebConnect attempt to add the activity under the deactivated Lead or will it create a new active Lead? I honestly don't know and I would have to test this scenario in order to find out the answer.

I will be out of the office all week because I'm attending Microsoft's World Wide Partner Conference in Denver, so I'll ask someone on our support team to test this scenario and confirm what is WebConnect's behavior.
Can you also please advise how the administrator knows a lead was attempted to be added by WebConnect but declined as the email address already existed.
There will be a new activity created under the lead. That would be one way. But also WebConnect can be configured to kick off a workflow rule which you can configure to do whatever you think is appropriate (such as send an email for instance).

RE: Disable Duplicate Checking

Thanks for your response Jeremie. If you could point me to a doc or something that would be greatly appreciated.

My aim is to use web connect with 2 basic form types. One is to create a membership. The other is toplace orders. Therefore with the order form the same person with email will be filling in the order form possibly a couple of times a week.

If these orders cant get through then webconnect is basically useless to me.

Maybe there is something i am missing.

Thanks in advance.

Disable Duplicate Checking

Is it possible to configure webconnect to save all leads into microsoft crm regardless if that email address or name has already been used ?

i have seperate forms with different lead topics.

Thankyou
