I am trying to get the SDK going in our development environment and I am getting the following error:

The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.

We are operating in an virtual environment with the CRM installed on a server. The development is being done from a workstation with Visual Studio 2003. I have checked the settings in the web.config and c360.config. The code works ok if copied to the server and run from there.

Can anyone provide ideas as to what may be causing this?

I receive the following error whilst trying to validate our CRM SDK licences using the licence validation tool from the zip folder.

The error I receive is as follows, any information would be greatly appreciated:

I am trying to use the c360 sdk from my local machine (not the MSCRM web server) which has IIS and Visual Studio .Net 2005 installed on it.

Is this mode of development supported currenlty or is it a requirement that all the development needs to happen on the CRM Web server?

Hi,

I am trying to figure out how to install the c360 sdk in a VS.NET web site, or alternatively, in a VS2005 Web Application project. The normal installation instructions work wonderfully for the VS2005 Web Site type project, but I'd like to be able to debug locally in one of the other setups as well.

Does anybody have any clever insigts, 'best practice' e.t.c. to pass on for those kind of projects?

license exception

I've been running through the training guide doing the examples trying to evaluate the SDK for my company and I've recently started getting a license exception. Initially it was because the license had expired, but now I get it whenever trying to view a page other than the page that is set as the start page. This includes both using the view in browser option and any links off the initial page such as the lookup in example 4.7.
I'm not sure if this was occurring earlier as none of the previous examples had any links that popped a new window.

Was there something I needed to do when the license expired other than copy the new one into the licenses directory?

NullReferenceException from local machine

We have CRM server and SQL server in same box. Several c360 addons installed with license and are working. However, our box has ssl certificate for IFD site and I have not been able to make c360 addons to work using mscrmservices from that site, so it is pointed to:

We still have some kinds to straighten out with the configuration, for example if we navigate to an entity from outlook and try to use relationship explorer, it will ask for login even if we already are logged on to crm server. Once this login through web interface is done, user does not need to do it again. I assume it is because user needs to log on for both 5555 and IFD site's mscrmservices.

But that is mostly background, my main question is about SDK in local machine:

Installed SDK in local machine, examples running as long as it does not pull data from CRM server. This has been happening on all the grid examples, for example 4.3b. The following error happens whether or not MultiCurrency is installed on server or not:

c360Location confusion

In section 2 of the training guide under the "Detailed installation Procedure" topic I mention that the web.config file needs to be edited and several customers have told me that there are several such files on their system and they are confused which one they are supposed to modify.

Let me try to clarify my statement: the web.config you need to modify is the file that is related to your custom application. You should not modify the config file under the "C:\Program Files\c360 Solutions\v3\Web\CrmWeb" folder and you should not modify the file located in the "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot" folder either.

If you modify the file under "C:\Program Files\c360 Solutions\v3\Web\CrmWeb" you will most cause errors in c360 products (such as Console, Multi-Field Search, Summary, etc.) The most likely symptom will be an error message similar to:

Unable to locate "english.xml" in folder "C:\inetpub\MyCustmSdkFolder\Console\Languages"
Unable to locate c360.Console.lic in folder ""C:\inetpub\MyCustmSdkFolder\Licenses"

Server Error

I download and installed c360 SDK for Microsft CRM 3.0.

I use for development a different machine than my CRM server.

In c360.Config file I wrote all necessary parameters (WebServicesUrl, ReportServicesUrl, ImpersonationUser, ImpersonationPasswordToEncrypt, ImpersonationDomain, CrmUrl)

and copied “c360.Toolkit.SDK Version 3.lic” file into “Licenses” directory.

After that exercises Exercise_3_1.aspx - Exercise_3_7.aspx have worked perfectly.
But from exercise Exercise_4_01.aspx and further I get the following error:

Step-by-step Installation

The training guide contains a section about how to install and configure our SDK and I also recorded a video to make it even easier but I notice that a lot of people are still experiencing problems when installating. In an effort to make the process even simpler, I have compiled the following notes and step by step instructions:

Installation

1. Download the SDK from our download center: www.c360.com

2. Obtain the licenses.

· If you are using the Adventure Works Cycle demo system, you can download free licenses from our web site: www.c360.com/Licenses.aspx

· If you are developing on a system with a different organization name, evaluating deploying to a production environment, request evaluation licenses: ww.c360.com/Evaluation.aspx

· If you are deploying to a production environment, purchase the licenses on our eStore: http://c360.stores.yahoo.net/ and we will email you the licenses automatically. Please allow 24-48 hours.

3. In Visual Studio 2005 create a new “Web site”; select “ASP.NET web site” as your template; select the appropriate language (either C# or VB.NET) and specify the location. Visual Studio 2005 will offer a default name for this site such as “WebSite1”, but you will want to change this name to something more descriptive, like “c360Sdk”

4. Extract the SDK zip file to the location where your new web site was created. By default, this should be “C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\WebSites\c360Sdk”

5. Move the exercises out of the .NET 2.0 sub-folder to the root of your new web site if you are interested in the samples otherwise, it’s safe to delete the .NET 2.0 folder. NOTE: if you want to use Visual Studio 2003 and .NET 1.1, please use the exercises and samples from the .NET 1.1 folder.

6. Add the “c360Location” key in your web.config to indicate the name of the virtual directory where you intend to run your custom application. See page 13 in the training manual for more details. For example, if you used the name “c360Sdk” when you created your Visual Studio 2005 web site, your key would look like this:

7. Edit the “WebServicesUrl” key in the c360.config to indicate where the Microsoft CRM are accessible. If your crm web site is located at a URL such as: http://mycrmserver and assuming that is has been configured to listen to IP port 5555, the key would look like this:

8. Copy the license you obtained from c360 to the “Licenses” folder under the root folder of your new web site.

9. Edit the web.config to disable ASP.NET ‘request validation’ in order to avoid the following error: “A potentially dangerous error Request.Form value was detected from the client”:

i. Configure the user, password and domain information that the SDK will use when connecting to the Microsoft CRM web services. You do this by adding three new keys to your c360.config file:

Authentication error

Hello,

I am currently evaluating the Toolkit.SDK Version 3.0.6.175 and have run into some issues getting it to work properly. I have installed the SDK as outlined in the README document but am receiving error "c360 products require that currently authenticated user is impersonated."

Here are my config entries:

c360.config:

In addition, I have installed the SDK under a virtual directory titled Sdk360 on the root a website (not the CRM website). Both the root and virtual directory have anonymous access turned off and integrated windows authentication turned on. The SDK is also installed on the CRM server.

I would appreciate any help with this.

Sample App

Attached is a compressed version of my test application. I removed the .LIC file from the Licenses directory and removed the BIN directory (due to size constraints). The program comes with a licensing error. I've modified the c360Location to /, /c360, /c360sdk and /AppName. I get the same error if I install directly on the CRM server and not from my laptop as well. Any help, even in CS will be greatly appreciated. Having a drop and run sample would be the best. That way we can start modifying from the get go and get up to speed faster.

SDK INstallation help Please!

I am stumped as to how to install the SDK. If some one could help me it would be greatly appreciated.
Here's what I've done:

Created a Web app in VS 2003 called C360Test

Extracted the SDK files to Inetpub\wwwroot\C360test

Ran the license app and copied the files to Inetpub\wwwroot\C360test\licenses

Edited the default.aspx page in VS project to derive the page from AreaPage class. Also added references to the c360 dll's.

Compiled the project with no errors

Edited Inetpub\wwwroot\C360test\config\c360.config to these values

In Inetpub\wwwroot\C360test\Web.config I added the key:

When I open the page the following error occurs:
[i]Access to the path "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\C360Test\Config\C360Test.config" is denied.[/i]
I assume this is because the file is not there?

In Inetpub\wwwroot\C360test\Web.config I changed the key to:

[i]Unable to find where the c360 products have been installed. Please add the c360Location key in web.config to indicate the location.[/i]

I've tried several variaition on this and always seem to get one of these two errors.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

StartFragment I followed the installation instructions of c360 SDK (readme.txt) and I deployed the evaluation Licence successfully, using the tool that c360 emailed me. I added c360 assemblies in my project (in a virtual directory of CRM site) and I copied code from Exercise_3_1. No errors at this time. When I try to build the solution, I receive a server error with a long list that seems to me errors in checking licence:
