I noticed that the First line of my records are never imported. Can anyone shed some light on this issue

We have modified our CRM installation so that contacts cannot be created unless they are linked to an account.. This was to prevent cases where you have a contact with no company information..

To do this, we have added a lookup field called Parent Account in the contact form. This Parent Account is a lookup field that shows the account when clicked on it.

Now in the accounts form, we have added a lookup field called Territories. Of course it lists the crm territories.

Those 2 lookup fields (Parent account and territories) are both mandatory fields.

Now I have accounts and contacts to import and I just can't find the way to populate these fields because they are just not there in the list of available fields for each of the entities... Tell me there's a workaround... please !...

single quote causes error in advanced match criterion

I am attempting to build a set of advanced match criteria that includes the account name field. Unfortunately I get an error message when the name includes a single quote (O'Brian, for example).

I reviewed the SQL queries being sent to the database in SQL Profiler, and I see that when I use the standard match, you replace the single quote with two single quotes, but the exact same query constructed in the advanced match window doesn't have the single quote replaced. I've tried all manner of methods to handle the single quote, but it appears there's nothing I can do to fix the problem.

Is there a patch or update you can release to do the single quote substitution on advanced match criteria?

CRM3.0 Import Addresses

From a csv file I tried to add addresses to the account in CRM.

I created a Rule to mapped the required fields and to set the relation to the Account entity. When I verify the data no error is returned. However when running the import, no new address is created and two types of errors are found in the log.

1) Required field missing.

2) The parent object is invalid or missing.

I know for sure that al the required fields contain data in the csv file and al the parent object are in the database.

Any ideas???

Advanced Match using SQL

I am trying to update Account records using the unique GUID for each account. I export the GUID to Excel, modify the data, then I want to import the same list back, and use a unique GUID to GUID match, to ensure the exact same record is updated that is in CRM.

How would I do this using the Advanced Match feature (SQL)?

I'm trying to update a field on a contact record, I've got a database with just two columns, the contactnumber (matching on) and the companytype (field I'm updating) that I'm linking to with ODBC, the connection seems to work OK.

I've got the value I'm trying to change in the field mapping, the match criteria set (contactnumber = contactnumber), nothing in relations. I've got it set to update on match only, ignore otherwise.

When I run validation I get an error on every record, in the log it shows -

Contact Unexpected error doing import (CountMatches): System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid object name 'FilteredContact'.

Any clues?

Unit Groups configured

Importing Price lists

Importing is straight forward. Simply make a Field Mapping to the Name field and you’re done.

Importing Products

The process of the product import is a bit trickier because of all the mandatory fields. Set up the following rule settings.

Data source

The data source must at least contain the following information:

ProductId; ProductName; UnitGroup; DefaultUnit; DecimalsSupported
1;Super bikes support; Hours; Hours; 3

Field mappings

Match criteria

Relations

Result

Importing Price List Item

Price List Item defines the relationship between a Price List and a Product. A new import rule must at least have the following parameters specified.

Field Mappings

1. Quantity Selling Option (e.g. “Whole”)

Pri Pricing Method (e.g. “Percent of List”)

3. Percentage (e.g. “200,00”)

Match Criteria

1. Price List. The name of the price list created in step 1, e.g. “Retail”

2. Product. The name of the product created in step 2, e.g. “Super bikes support”

Relations

1. Price List. The name of the price list created in step 1, e.g. “Retail”

2. Product. The name of the product created in step 2, e.g. “Super bikes support”

3. Unit. The Unit Group configured, e.g. “Each”

How (EXACTLY) to import phone, e-mails & appts into History?

I have many old phone calls, e-mails and appointments I need to import, directly or indirectly, into HISTORY. No success after 2 weeks!

1. Can this be done directly? If so, how do I need to set the activity status and the status reason fields? Numeric? alpha? Please type in what the actual field should look like: 1, 2 Completed, etc

2. If it can't be done while doing the initial import, do I have to repeat and update the record? Again what should the fields look like. Can you send me what a typical CSV record would look like?

(I would assume that almost every import into a new CRM would have this need, but I can't get any direct answers? What gives?)

Scheduled Task Import error - Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Running the import using the Run Import button works. Setting up the import as a scheduled task produces this error. Any thoughts?

How to handle duplicate company names (Account) in new import

Am importing 9,000 company records from a GoldMine database that have duplicate company names. Only some names are duplicates, the companies are not duplicates. Am also importing a unique account number from GoldMine for future updates.

Do I need to eliminate duplicate names by adding maybe a suffix like "ABC Company", "ABC Company 2", "ABC Company 3" etc.,so the Primary Contact and Parent Company relationship works OK using Import Manager (2 rule setup)

(I have one file to import into both Accounts and into Contacts)

Do imported records get workflow attached, plus second question

I have been unable to find any documentation on whether a newly imported record has CRM workflow's attached that are of the "create" type.

Basically, we have a WF that on create assigns the owner based upon the zip code of the account. If a batch of 1700 accounts are imported, will each have this workflow attached and then processed?

Also, if we export a list of tasks that contain the GUID, and then the next day import to match on GIUDs, can we get the state of the task change from open to complete? We pretty much have a list of to-dos for a non CRM user that goes to them in excel. They indicate if they completed the task. We want to import the same list to update the CRM task status to show closed.

Updating Status/Status Reason

Is it possible to do a data import and then re-do the same import set, in order to do things like import and close leads, or import and set customer service case status reasons?

I have tried doing it with integer values for status/statusreason and with INDEX:XX style formatting, to no avail. What's the correct format for this?

Importing Opportunity Products

We are preparing to do a migration from our old CRM system into 3.0. One of the things we have to handle is Opportunity and Order Products.
The problem is since these are historical records the products they contain may not be anything we want to create in a Pricelist; in addition the part numbers they list may have had multiple prices over different calendar years.
To work around this we want to migrate them as 'Write in' products. How do we do this within C360? Alternatively is there another good way to approach this?

Importing contacts into marketing list

Is there a way to use Import Manager to bring a list of contacts into a specified marketing list? As an example, we will be importing trade show attendee names into our CRM system. We will be looking for duplicates within our database during the import. Adding newly created names (create date = today, source = showname) to the marketing list would be doable. However, how do we find the duplicates? I don't really want to run an import process that matches for duplicates, then touches the CRM record in some scratch field, and then we advance find for those that had been touched. Yes, it will work, but cumbersome.

Ideally, we would love a method to import names and automatically have the new or duped names get added to the appropriate marketing list.

Importing into a picklist field

I did an import that included importing into a picklist field. However, there is no data in that field. If an advanced find is built for <fieldname> does not contain data, nothing shows up. Reverse the search, <fieldname> contains data, and all of the imported or updated records shows up.

The data I was importing contained the picklist values (A 1 - 4, B 5 -9, etc) So, what should I do when I import into a picklist field? Where did I mess up?

Can you say how much time is take (approximately) to import such amount of data? (please provide baseline hardware requirements)

Importing Disqualified Leads

Is it possible to import Leads that we wish to set to be disqualified? The reason is that we need to import Leads from an existing system. Some of these Leads are old (and hence Disqualified) but the Customer needs them in for historical reporting purposes.

I haven't been able to achieve this yet - even if I import the record (to get it created) and then update it. It still leaves the Lead in a 'New - Open' state.

Any ideas?

Importing Notes / Annotations

Urgent Help Required!!

We are trying to import notes from source data into CRM Annotations. We are having problems getting the notes to import in the correct order. We want the oldest records to appear as the oldest notes. Therefore we have sorted the source data so that the oldest records appear at the top of a sql table and should therefore be imported first.

We have tried to issue sql commands to order by ‘date’ fields or unique integer fields on pre-sorted data. However no matter what we try, Import Manager imports the data in a random order.

Is there anyway to get the data imported in the order that we dictate? Does Import Manager import data in a random order?

Importing 'Inactive' Products

Mapping picklists between datasource and CRM

I am currently mapping from one version of CRM into another version which has a bit more customisation.

I need to be able to map between a picklist in the source data and one in the destination, can anyone help please?

I can not see anywhere where it allows this or does it do it automagically in the background.

Relationships in CRM

Based on the product description for Import Manager, I thought that I'd be able to import 'relationships' (as defined by CRM) between Accounts and Contacts. However, now that I'm setting up an import, it appears that I can set up Parent Accounts and SubAccounts, Primary Contacts, etc., but not user-defined 'relationships' like 'Client', 'Attorney', 'Patient', etc.

Just wanting to confirm that that's correct, and see whether anyone else has come up with a way to import user-defined relationships.
