Soundex is a phonetic algorithm for indexing names by their sound when pronounced in English. The basic aim is for names with the same pronunciation to be encoded to the same string so that matching can occur despite minor differences in spelling.

For example: 'Jeremie' would soundex match with 'Jeremy'
For more information on Soundex, please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundex

Duplicate Detection uses the SQL server soundex function:
For more details see

Using soundex functionality, you can identify more duplicate data (that may be missed using simple string comparison) and keep your system duplicate free.
