We plan to use Import Manager to import 40 000 Accounts, 200 000 contacts and 300 000 additional addresses.

Can you say how much time is take (approximately) to import such amount of data? (please provide baseline hardware requirements)

As a baseline, expect to import 10 records per second. So it will take (40.000 + 200.000 + 300.000 records) / 10 records/sec = 540.000 records / 10 records/sec = 54.000 sec = 15 hours. This estimate is based on an import with one match criteria. If no match criterion is used then the import will run much faster, expect about 40% increase.

That said, you can speed up the import process by disabling all unnecessary callouts and workflows. Furthermore you can follow the CRM Performance Guide (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6b32e0b3-5520-48a7-b3cd-d8477d084821&displaylang=en) and make sure to have indexes on all fields that are a part of match criteria. Also install Import Manager directly on the CRM server and use http://localhost/ as the identifier to avoid any DNS and network performance issues.

Lastly, it is recommended to use these system requirements: http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/crm/product/systemrequirements.mspx If CRM and SQL are placed on the same machine then 4 GB of RAM is recommended.
